Floor wax has different functions.
The most known is the polishing function, since wax makes the floor bright, highlights its colors and hides small surface flaws so that it looks as if it was new. However, its most important function is the protective one: wax provides a protective film to the treated surfaces to protect the floor from humidity, water, harmful agents (light and stains) and from the signs of aging (scratches and scrapings).
This barrier prevents dirt penetration in the typical micro-pores of beautiful and precious floors like marble, parquet, terracotta, natural stones etc and cleaning stays longer!
1In a micro-pores floor, dirt accumulates in the pores and makes the floor difficult to clean and it seams gray.
2When Emulsio LaCera is used on these surfaces, the protective film that is created reduces the damage from rubbing by closing the porosity of the tiles.
3The dirt and bacteria that lurk there remain on the barrier created by the wax, without penetrating deeply, making their removal easier and faster.
For all the floors which need protection from chemical agents or mechanical actions, such as: marble, marble composition, mosaic paving, terrazzo (tiles composed of marble chips in different sizes bound through concrete), travertine marble, slate, linoleum, PVC, rubber, terracotta, wood and varnished/oiled/waxed parquet and whenever wear has reduced the original brightness of the floor. In addition, porous or microporous floors, if treated with wax, become much easier to clean because dirt does not penetrate deep.
Emulsio waxes may be divided into 3 categories.
LaCeraSpecchio is a traditional wax containing a selection of prestigious natural waxes such as Carnauba Wax, which, when the treated floor is polished with a floor polisher, adds shine and protects against the signs of time, preserving the floor’s natural shine and making it easy to clean. When used with a floor polisher, Carnauba wax creates a unique mirror shine.
And this type of wax offers another advantage, a result of its malleability. It’s easy to eliminate abrasions or small scratches with a woollen cloth or a polishing machine.
The LaCeraFacile line is a modern self-polishing wax which makes floors shiny even without a polishing machine. Moreover, this type of formula containing innovative micro-pearls forms a barrier against dirt, keeping the floor clean longer by protecting it from damp and abrasion.
LaCeraFacile is a vast range of self-polishing non-slip waxes for the different specific features of the surfaces to be treated: LaCeraFacile for all kinds of floor, LaCeraFacile Marmo containing polishing micropearls, intended specifically for marble and stone floors, LaCeraFacile Parquet with beeswax, LaCeraFacile Cotto for polishing Tuscan terracotta, old brick, and traditional and modern terracotta floors and making them impermeable, and, lastly, LaCeraFacile Rossa containing coloured pigments for reviving brick and red brick floors.
The latest new addition to the Emulsio product is the LaCeraLuxe line, available in two versions, one for marble, stone and terrazzo tiles and one specifically formulated for varnished wood and parquet (including floors varnished with ecological or water-based products). These waxes offer extra gloss and multiple forms of protection for top-quality results.
It’s much easier to apply wax than most people think. As a leading wax manufacturer, Emulsio has some advice to offer.
The first thing to do before applying wax is make sure the floor is clean, removing dust and then thoroughly washing the floor with the appropriate cleaning product (such as a product from the Emulsio Ravviva line, which includes products specifically for marble and other prestigious flooring materials, parquet, terracotta and natural stone).
Wait for the floor to dry before applying wax.
Choose the appropriate type of wax for the floor to be treated.
It’s very important to use the right sort of cloth, which must be clean and soft (such as a microfibre cloth.) Do not use the commonly used floor cloths with a honeycomb weave.
Once you’ve tried it, you’ll see that it’s no sooner said than done!
The wax quantity depends on the floor type and porosity. For example, ancient marble floors (or floors which are stepped on a lot) are usually very porous and require more wax than plumb polished floors which have a very low porosity. About 150 ml of product are usually enough for 10 square meters of floor to be treated. The quantity should in any case be enough to evenly soak the floor without any accumulation.
Yes, you can. However, the level of shine will not increase significantly.
The accumulation of multiple wax layers generates a non-homogeneous film which easily attracts dirt, is not shiny and in some cases tends to detach from the floor in form of scales. After 1-3 years, a thorough floor cleaning is recommended, in order to remove any trace of previous layers.
Decerante Emulsio does not damage natural stone floors (marble, marble composition, mosaic paving, terrazzo, travertine marble, slate) on which it acts as a strong degreasing detergent. As all alkaline detergents, it cannot be used on non-varnished parquets, linoleum or other sensitive materials.
Pour about 250 ml of Decerante Emulsio in a bucket (5 l) with hot water. Apply a big quantity of solution on the floor and let it act for about 5 minutes. Carefully rinse the floor using water (preferably hot). If the floor is very porous, rinse twice to remove the dewaxer completely. If some dewaxer is left, it will combine with the wax applied later and therefore reduce duration, shine and water-resistance. To remove very old wax layers, repeat the operation if necessary, increasing the concentration of Degreasing Dewaxer (about half/one bottle in a bucket full of water).
The most suitable waxes for outside use are the following: Cera Facile for all floor types, Cera Facile Rossa, Cera Cotto, la Cera 6mesi and Cera Luxe Marmo.
Often, terraces are coated with very porous materials or materials which tend to keep the dirt created by dust, smog, pollens, etc. Waste and rain water cause stains and using a cloth is hard because of the friction caused by the floor. Emulsio has the right solution!
The new Emulsio waxes are the ideal solution also for terraces and balconies: if used regularly, they create a protective film which protects the floor from age signs and prevents external agents from creating permanent stains which damage the beauty of our terraces.
First wash the floors carefully, using a scrubbing brush and other brushes to remove persistent dirt if necessary; then let them dry and afterwards apply the most suitable wax. Remember to let the floors dry completely.
From now on, you can forget the hard work with brushes: dirt will no longer stick to the floor and cleaning will be much quicker and easier. Try once and you will never give up easy beauty!
We all know that housework ends with floor washing. What is not always said is where to start. A good starting point is furniture which includes the most used and exploited surfaces of the house, those which are most exposed to everyday dust. As for floors, different pieces of furniture have different cleaning needs, both as far as procedures and products to be used are concerned. First of all, we have to distinguish between classic furniture and modern furniture.
The first thing to do is removing the dust which deposits every day on these surfaces. To do that, Emulsio recommends its spray MangiaPolvere con Cera d’api: thanks to beeswax properties and its antistatic formula, it captures dust in a single and rapid wipe, without having to repeat the same procedure the day after and without leaving any stain ring. For best performances, use it in combination with the special cloth Panno Emulsio Mangiapolvere in microfiber: thanks to its special antistatic ant anti-scratch formula, it makes your furniture shine every day. Spray it on a cloth or directly on the surface to remove dust from wooden furniture and surfaces (doors, frames etc.) with a single wipe.
When you do not have much time for housework, use Emulsio Panni Mangiapolvere Legno e Parquet con Cera D’api for easy and fast cleaning and for good protection and reviving of all the wooden surfaces in your house.
Even if you dust them, a thin dirt layer often deposits on wooden furniture damaging the surface. For thorough cleaning, we recommend Emulsio Splendi Legno, ideal for all wooden surfaces. Thanks to its formula with cedar essential oil, it removes dirt and stains quickly and preserves furniture colours and shine.
For periodical care of Wooden Furniture, Emulsio Cura Legno can be very useful. It is a cream reach in beeswax which deeply nourishes the furniture wood and protects it against dust and woodworms, keeping their colour and shine unchanged.
After having applied the cream, polish the furniture using a woollen cloth until the desired shiny effect is reached.
Nowadays, many modern pieces of furniture are present on the market (for example, lacquered or laminated wood furniture); moreover, more and more pieces of furniture in modern style are now made of different plastic materials. Those materials are usually dirt-resistant and easy to clean, therefore little precautions should be taken to keep them clean.
For ordinary cleaning, dust removal is enough. The ideal product for that is Emulsio Mangiapolvere Superfici Moderne. Thanks to anti-static agents, it cleans treated surfaces and make them shine, by leaving an invisible barrier which makes dust formation slower and therefore reduces allergies. It is available in 3 different scents: Magnolia&Gelsomino (magnolia and jasmine), Fresco Profumo (Fresh Perfume) and Muschio Bianco (white musk). It removes dust while leaving a delicate and long-lasting perfume in the air.
Mangia Polvere is now available also in the ‘natural’ version, an exclusive formula with natural origin ingredients, hypoallergenic, nickel-free (<0,1 ppm) and dermatologically tested: it is therefore suitable also for very sensitive people. Moreover, its ingredients are fully biodegradable (the surfactants contained in the product are easily, quickly and fully biodegradable according to Regulation 648/2004/EC). The innovative system with compressed air which avoids the emission of harmful gases combined with fully biodegradable ingredients makes the product people and environmental friendly.
For easier dust removal, use Mangiapolvere together with Emulsio cloth Panno Mangiapolvere in Microfibra for delicate surfaces. Thanks to its special anti-scratch action, it is an ideal solution for the cleaning of all surface types.
For a quick wipe, Emulsio recommends the use of electrostatic cloths. Panni Mangiapolvere Magnolia e Gelsomino make all cleaning operations easy and quick and leave a pleasant flowery perfume in the air.
Some materials are not very porous and do not accept any protection treatment. Ceramic, as well as ceramic stoneware, is one of those surfaces. However, some preventive measures should be taken to significantly extend the floor life.
For ordinary maintenance, you only need to remove dust from the floors: we recommend to use the clothes called Panni Mangiapolvere Superfici Moderne: thanks to their 3D special structure, they capture and keep dust, hair and other types of dirt and remove allergens while releasing a delicate perfume of magnolia and jasmine in the air.
Try them: their extraordinary strength in dust capturing will surprise you!
For the cleaning of this type of surfaces, we recommend Emulsio Ravviva detergente Marmo e Pietre Naturali (Cotton Flowers) or Emulsio Ravviva detergente Pavimenti Pregiati Lavanda. These detergents clean all the floors in marble, natural stones, ceramic, granite and slate and make them shine.
Ravviva is equipped with an integrated dosing system used for correct cleaning without wastes. Its neutral formula allows to thorough and delicate surface cleaning.
Emulsio Ravviva Gres is especially suitable for stoneware daily cleaning. Thanks to its exclusive formula, it cleans and revives all floors in porcelain, glazed, shiny or opaque stoneware and releases a pleasant long-lasting perfume in the air each time you use it. This product makes floors clean and shiny, it protects grout lines and delays dust deposition thanks to a special anti-redeposition molecule.
Thanks to its excellent robustness and strength, parquet is nowadays one of the most used materials which give a very elegant and comfortable look to home rooms.
Taking care of a parquet floor is very easy. It does not require special cares, since it has a good durability. It is however necessary to take some precautions to maintain it. First of all, some substances should be avoided on parquet floors: liquids in general, particularly aggressive substances such as alcohol or bleach and some substances which are daily used in the kitchen, such as oil, milk and wine.
As far as ordinary cleaning is concerned, dust should be removed by means of a hoover or antistatic cloths such as Emulsio Panni Mangiapolvere Legno e Parquet which, thanks to their special 3D structure and beeswax content, remove allergens while protecting and reviving parquet.
Once you have removed dust, you can wash the floor. We recommend that you choose and use suitable products. For daily cleaning, regardless of the parquet typology, Emulsio recommends Ravviva detergente Parquet e Legno; it contains Argan essential oil and nourishes and protects parquet while releasing a pleasant and long-lasting perfume in the air each time it is used. Moreover, its innovative dosing system allows you to obtain the exact product dilution you need, for excellent cleaning and shine without waste. As far as varnished and water varnished parquet is concerned, when the varnish is worn out, wax can become useful. For this type of floors, we recommend Emulsio cera Facile Parquet, a self-polishing and anti-slip wax which can be applied easily and quickly.
Thanks to its aesthetic and protective function, this wax helps make the floor shinier by enhancing its colours and deposit a protective film to protect the parquet against damaging agents and aging signs. For a superior result, try Emulsio Cera Luxe Legno e Parquet: thanks to its metallised and ultra-reflecting formula, it revives the parquet natural beauty, without changing its colours, ensuring a long-lasting shine.
Periodically, the floors can be cleaned with Emulsio Lavaincera Parquet, a product which removes dirt while leaving a very thin wax layer at the same time. Thanks to its special formula, it also releases a pleasant a long-lasting perfume in the air. While cleaning, it is important to follow the parquet laying direction and to use the correct detergent depending on the operation to be carried out. Taking these simple precautions helps the detergents improve their effectiveness and make parquet floors clean and shiny with no efforts.
Many people choose terracotta for home floors; this material is considered irreplaceable by many people due to its strength and versatility which make it ideal both for inside and outside floors. It helps create an intimate and warm atmosphere in the house thanks to its rustic look and warm shades. Terracotta is made by kneading clay and water. It is a very porous material, therefore it tends to absorb liquids which can damage it by staining its surface (acids, oils, varnishes). For this reason, in order to preserve its beauty, more precautions should be taken in comparison with other floors. It is essential to use specific water-proofing and curative products: the use of non-specific and too aggressive products may alter the surface and make it too porous.
For the daily cleaning of your terracotta floor, Emulsio recommends Emulsio Ravviva Cotto with juniper essential oil which, besides providing excellent cleaning and reviving properties, cares for the terracotta floor and makes it water-proof while releasing a pleasant perfume in the air. Moreover, it is equipped with an integrated dosing system for a correct cleaning with no wastes.
If terracotta loses its shine with time, if the floor is waxed you can wash it thoroughly with Emulsio Sgrassante Decerante. Dewaxing should be carried out at least once a year to remove previous wax layers which keep dust and make the floor little shiny. A new wax application will give the floor a new homogeneous and shiny look.
Emulsio Cera Facile Cotto with its special formula for Tuscan terracotta and ancient bricks should be used regularly to apply a protective and water-proofing film on the surface, thus protecting the floor against aging signs. When the wax effect begins to fade, it could be useful to apply Emulsio Lavaincera Pavimenti: with a single application, it cleans, polishes and protects terracotta against humidity, stains, scratches and other marks. Moreover, thanks to its special formula, it releases a pleasant and long-lasting perfume in the air.
Spring, with its long sunny days and day trips, has finally arrived. However, spring is also the season of home cleaning aimed at giving shine and brightness to all the rooms in the house! Many things need to be done, but don’t panic! You only need to organise the work and keep smiling!
Emulsio has prepared a list of special tips in order to repay for all the efforts once the work has finished.
1. First of all, do not try to change the whole house in one day: prepare a specific schedule for each room dividing it in more days. It is advisable to clean one room per day in order not to get too tired and to enjoy some free time.
2. Every surface requires specific products to ensure the best results in as little time as possible. It is therefore useful to make a list of the surfaces you need to clean and to buy products accordingly.
3. A useful tip for all the rooms is that of starting cleaning from the top to the bottom. Look up and around you looking for spider webs or dust piles to be removed.
4. Choose your favourite music to create a pleasant atmosphere and enjoy!
Starting from the top, you can exploit this occasion to clean the ceiling lamps; before you do that, don’t forget to turn off the electric power. To clean crystal chandeliers, Emulsio recommends Splendi Vetri e Cristalli, a highly performant foam designed to obtain the best possible results for this type of surfaces. Its special formula (foam) makes it ideal especially to clean the most fragile surfaces such as blown, faceted and coloured crystal or grinded glass. It drips on the surface, therefore it is suitable for crystal chandeliers: after having covered the underlying surface with some newspapers, just spray the product and wait until it drips on the surface to the ground. When all the liquid has dripped, the crystals are clean and shiny with no need to rinse.
China cabinets containing glasses, silver trays and many other small objects are subject to dust deposition even if they are closed. Spring cleaning shall therefore be done also for these pieces of furniture where we put objects that we use very rarely.
Empty all the shelves and carefully wash all the objects; if you have some silverware, use a specific product, such as Emulsio SplendiArgento & Silverplate, available in cream for engraving and marquetry. It cleans and polishes in depth and helps delay oxidation. Then, clean the shelves of the china cabinet and remove dust from them. If you have a TV set, in order to remove fingermarks and dust from the LCD screen without scratching it, use a soft cloth. Do not forget to clean power cables and skirting boards. When you carry out these simple procedures, the highest risk is that of moving dust from one place to the other without removing it completely. It is therefore important to use an antistatic product such as Emulsio Mangiapolvere. Its new formula with compressed air does not emit harmful gases and helps protect the environment. It is available in 3 different fragrances: Magnolia e Gelsomino (magnolia and jasmine), Muschio Bianco (white musk) and Fresco Profumo (fresh perfume). It helps remove dust and allergens quickly from all surfaces in the house and leaves a pleasant and long-lasting perfume in the air. It also delays dust deposition.
Tidy your bookshelf and dust all the shelves, pictures and ornaments.
Take all the cushions away from the sofa and hoover the area between the springs and all hidden corners where mites can settle. If you have a leather sofa, wipe it with a soft cloth and then clean it using Emulsio Ravviva Pelle: this product can restore the softness and shine the leather had when the sofa was new.
All these works dirty the floor, therefore it is the last thing to be cleaned: use a hoover or a sweeper such as Emulsio Mangiapolvere panni, in its two variants, Magnolia e Gelsomino (magnolia and jasmine) or Legno e Parquet (wood and parquet) to remove dust and allergens which have deposited on the floor during the housework.
In the end, wash and wax (if necessary) the floor using specific products, suitable for your surfaces. Modern waxes do not require the use of floor polishers, but they help you make your floors shine.
As far as bathroom is concerned, first you need to empty all the shelves and cabinets, remove all the expired creams and products and rearrange the products inside the cabinet. Then clean the small storage compartments that are often neglected during ordinary cleaning (soap holders, toilet roll holders and toothbrush holders) and after that clean bathroom fixtures, sinks and showers removing stains. For those operations, Emulsio recommends Bagno e Doccia anticalcare Emulsio Naturale. It removes limestone and, if used daily, it prevents limestone and soap deposition. It is the ideal solution for shower, taps, bath tubs, tiles and sinks. Thanks to its exclusive sprayer and its formula in mousse, it ensures perfect adhesion to surfaces and excellent dirt removal.
Its exclusive formula with vegetal origin raw materials contains allergen-free perfumes (Reg. 648/2004/EC), is nickel-free (<0.1 ppm) and dermatologically tested. Moreover, its ingredients are fully biodegradable (the surfactants contained in the product are easily, quickly and fully biodegradable according to Regulation 648/2004/EC).
Once the shower tray has been cleaned, focus on the glass in order to remove the limestone residues deposited on its surface shower after shower. Vetri e Multiuso Emulsio Naturale is ideal to make glass, mirrors and crystal shine without leaving stain rings. It is also suitable for furniture, electrical appliances and all washable surfaces.
Then clean the sink shelf with specific detergents. In case of marble and granite surfaces, Emulsio recommends Ravviva Marmo e Pietre Naturaliwith neutral pH, which cleans and polishes all small surfaces without attacking them. Its exclusive formula with waterproofing agents creates a protective effect that helps keep it clean for longer.
Kitchen is one of the most used rooms of the house. Food cooking and vapours really put kitchen surfaces to the test, therefore thorough cleaning is required.
Fridge and freezer are devoted to food storage, therefore they need to be kept clean. After taking food out from the fridge, disassemble all the removable parts such as shelves and drawers and wash them. Before putting the food back into the fridge, check its due date. Do the same with the freezer after defrosting it.
Then, empty cupboards and drawers and clean them thoroughly both inside and outside. After that, clean the oven: before cleaning it, take away all removable parts such as the grill which you will clean separately. Use a specific product: spray it on the oven walls, then wipe with a sponge and rinse. Then, clean the grills: spray the product on them, let it act for some minutes and then rinse under running water.
You do not need to buy many products to carry out all these operations: just buy Emulsio Naturale Tergiforno which, thanks to its special formula, dissolves burnt-on grease without leaving bad odours. It is therefore ideal for thorough and effortless cleaning of ovens, cookers, steak pans, oven pans, fireplaces and stoves. In the end, clean the cooktop: spray the product on the surface, then use a wet sponge to wipe all the top and make sure you scrape off all sticky items. Then rinse and dry thoroughly using a clean cloth.
Once you have finished, sweep and wash the floor with specific products to remove the dirt caused by the cooktop cleaning. If necessary, wax it in order to make your kitchen brighter!
Spring is a good moment to refresh your bedroom. Start by airing your winter blankets and duvets out, then turn the mattress to the “summer” side and wash your curtains. If you have carpets, wash them or have them cleaned.
Spring is also a period for season change of clothes in your wardrobe. Start by putting winter clothes in their boxes. Once the wardrobe is empty, remove the dust which has deposited both inside and outside during the winter. Dust deposits everywhere, therefore do not forget to turn drawers and chest of drawers upside down and to clean bedside tables. For these operations, Emulsio recommends Emulsio Mangiapolvere l’antistatico. If you have abatjours on your bedside tables, remove dust remains using Emulsio panno Mangiapolvere in microfiber. Use it first to remove dust (dry), then dampen it for a thorough cleaning even on very delicate surfaces. Then clean the area under your bed, using first the cloths Emulsio Panni Antistatici Mangia Polvere and then Emulsio Panni imbevuti (drenched cloths) to carefully clean those areas which are usually neglected since they are difficult to reach (do not forget to keep the windows open during the operations, in order to ventilate the room!!!).
In the end, sweep the floor to remove dust, then wash it and wax it if required.
Windows cleaning is one of the hardest housework you need to do. It sometimes takes long and is often tiring. On the windows, all types of dirt accumulate: dust, rain water and fingerprints of the people living in the house, especially children. Windows cleaning can be quick and easy if you follow some important precautions.
Very dirty windows require a short pre-treatment before the real cleaning with a detergent. This treatment can be done in different ways: for example, you can swipe the window using a soft cloth and then rinsing using warm water or a well soaked sponge.
For excellent results, move horizontally from the windows centre up to the sides where it is better to move vertically. Once this operation is over, use a specific detergent - Emulsio Naturale Vetri e Multiuso- which, thanks to its mousse formula, perfectly adheres to the glass and does not drip. Once the product has been applied, dry the surface. You can use soft cloths or, if you want a cheaper option- newspapers: newspapers pages are very effective for windows cleaning. Be sure you rub thoroughly to remove persistent stains. In any case, the operation will be very quick.
A last suggestion: for excellent results, never clean the windows when they are exposed to sunlight: if the glass dries too quickly, stain rings can appear! EmulsioSplendi Vetri e Cristalli (a high performing foam designed to obtain the best results for these surfaces) is particularly suitable for mirror and crystal cleaning and can be an excellent option also for glass and windows. Its special formula (foam) makes it ideal especially to clean the most fragile surfaces such as blown, faceted and coloured crystal or grinded glass. It drips on the surface, therefore it is suitable for crystal chandeliers
Preparation: after having covered the underlying surface with some newspapers, turn off the electric power, unscrew lamp bulbs and cover free holes with some film to protect electric couplings. Cleaning: spray the product and wait until it drips on the surface to the ground. When all the liquid has dripped, the crystals are clean and shiny with no need to rinse.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
